How can I help my 5 year old meet friends?

we live in south west florida in a home. the street where we live does not have any kids that are my son's age. He is bored and desperate for a friend. I have him enrolled for a summer camp, but that is only one week out of summer. How can I help him make friends. Money is an issue, meaning I can't afford to pay for any other activity that charges fees. Any suggestions? Thanks.

How can I help my 5 year old meet friends?
boys and girls club, church events, big brother and sister club or the YMCA
Reply:go to the park get him into a ymca summer camp if your single mother you can get finacial aid for the YMCA
Reply:Make play dates with other women so you can take turns having the other to your home to play. You can even make it an over night thing so the parents can have some fun too! Look for groups in your area, I'm sure there are some that get together to let the kids play. Take him to the park and try to meet people there. Does he have cousins he can have over or go see? Sign him up for T-ball or soccer.
Reply:take him actibvities in the neighbor hood like basketball courts or socer somethiong like that
Reply:you might want to in your free time take him to a playground where he might meet other kids his age, or through the community (maybe if you involve yourself in community activities or church) you may meet moms who have kids his age as well and arrange to have play dates with their kids. That way you could take them to their homes and have them come to yours where your son would feel in his own element.
Reply:Church, mothers day out progam. You can have him enrolled one day or three days a week.....Here in TN they are based on the income.......
Reply:Did you hear about the boys and girls club? I think it's free. Doesn't he find friends in school though?
