How do I meet friends?

I moved to a new city for work and I don't know anyone. I'm 23 and very shy. I take dance lessons once a week, but its not really a place to meet people. I'm not trying to meet men either.

How do I meet friends?
There are now more ways than ever to meet new people and make new friends.


Where in the past all things had to work person to person technology has changed all that.


You can now meet through newspaper ads and through some telephone conversations before a meet, or the method that some others prefer which is to use the internet and some friend making sites.


The best way is to decide what you want - a friendship or relationship. Also decide the profile of the sort of person you want to meet - age, profession and location.


Then check out a few sites. For friendship many sites are free to at least try out and therefore there is nothing to lose and potentially new friends to gain.


Don't worry about any stigma of looking for friends online, many people do this and it is silly not to try something just for fear of ridicule.
