i am thinking of moving to Rockhampton in QLD Australia and would like to meet some friends before i move there. I would really like female friends but males are fine too.

Have you tried Tribe.net? Also, Myspace is a good place to meet friends. In LA there's a website called LAlinkup. You might want search and see if there is something like that in QLD. Also, before you head over, look google volunteer opportunities in QLD and see if anything comes up that might be something you'd be interested in doing... then email them. You could make a friend through that type of correspondence.
